Folk Ensemble "Stari Dusanovac"

        The folk ensemble “Stari Dušanovac” was established in 1971. in Belgrade, Serbia, with only one motive – to cherish and preserve national tradition, and to develop it making the traditional dances and music stay alive, and to present that preciosness of one nation in a best possible way.
        During the years, about 6.000 young people passed through “Stari Dušanovac” in many sections. Nowadays, there are about 400 active members in our ensemble in children folk ensemble, performing ensemble, theatre, orchestra and choir.
        We are the members of many associations like, C.I.O.F.F., IOV, UNESCO, Serbian folk ensembles Association, etc.
        “Stari Dušanovac” successfully performed over 2.000 concerts in Serbia as well as in many countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America, and became the laureate with the highest acknowledgements and awards.
        The program of “Stari Dušanovac” presents a model of scenic ethno-performing, because it consists of essential value of Serbian traditional culture, its presentation in our time, and creative innovation in accordance to the essence of traditional dance, song and music.
        We perform our traditional culture in over 1.500 authentic costumes from all parts of Serbia, and there is always our orchestra playing, besides well known instruments, also our national, specific instruments like, goch, fife, stringed fiddle and tamborine.
        The folk dances ensemble and the folk music orchestra together have a whole evening program (over two hours) consisting of very attractive dances and songs, but beside this, we have a program for the other, smaller scenes as well (e.g. restaurants), with smaller number of dancers.
        The chosen folk dances symbolize in sublime artistic form the features of the people to which they belong. Archaic gestures and movements are shaped into synchronized artistic entities-choreography.
        Our effort to present Serbian tradition in a best possible way through colorful costumes, dynamic and original music and dances, gives us the best reward: presenting our national tradition to the world we have an opportunity to learn more about other cultures, getting know better each other among the nations leads to better understanding and tolerance, and to the long-lasting friendship, which is the most precious thing for us.
